It was a dream of Walter M. Kenney to create the Brighton Fire District in the Town of Tonawanda. This was in 1929. At that time the new fire district was farmland with a new family. Mr. Kenney's dream became a reality by 1931.

The Fire Company was started with $30,000 and a few men. This was during the time of the depression. The fire station was built with the labor of the new firemen.

To save funds, the firemen laid the bricks themselves, The first fire truck was purchased and the New Fire District was born. The Fire Company was ready and willing to protect both life and property. Much has changed over the last 70 years, but Walter M. Kenney's dream for the Brighton Fire District is still alive and growing.......
